Mammoth Tusk Found in Saskatchewan

In early October, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) was contacted by Derek Lucik, Operations Manager with Inland Aggregates, about a potential fossil discovery at a work site just a few kilometres east of Saskatoon.   The fossil was confirmed as a tusk of a woolly mammoth and is currently being conserved at the RSM.

Saskatchewan Agriculture is reminding producers to be on the lookout for anthrax in their animals after confirmation that anthrax has been found in cattle in the RM of Harris #316.

October Wholesale Trade Rises to Record

October wholesale trade numbers were up in Saskatchewan, rising 3.6 per cent over September (seasonally adjusted), the highest percentage increase among the provinces.  On a national basis, wholesale trade figures dropped by 0.6 per cent.

New Affordable Housing for Seniors in Regina

The Governments of Canada, Saskatchewan, and the City of Regina, along with community partners, today announced the official opening of a two-story apartment building for seniors including 16 affordable and 10 market rental units.  The 26-unit facility, called the Sun Lodge or the “pîsimokamik,” was developed by Silver Sage Holdings Ltd. (Silver Sage).

Construction Begins on a Child Care Centre for At-Risk Moms in Saskatoon

Single moms in Saskatoon’s EGADZ residential program will soon have an easier time finding care for their children while they complete their education or look for work.  Construction will begin in the New Year on a child care centre with 22 spaces at Sweet Dreams, EGADZ’s supported living home for at-risk single mothers.

Seeing Blue? Slow Down, Stay Back, Stay Safe

Saskatchewan highways will soon be a little more colourful.  Beginning Monday, December 21, blue and amber flashing lights will be activated on all Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure snow removal equipment during regular winter maintenance activities.
