Yorkton Receives $330,000 for Policing Initiatives
The Government of Saskatchewan is helping to keep Yorkton safe with funding through the Municipal Police Grants.
This provincial contribution of $330,000 will fund three existing Yorkton RCMP positions in 2018-19.
“This investment for three RCMP positions will help ensure community safety and well-being in Yorkton and the surrounding area,” Rural and Remote Health Minister and Yorkton MLA Greg Ottenbreit said on behalf of Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell. “Keeping communities safe is a top priority of this government.”
“The City of Yorkton is grateful that the province of Saskatchewan contributes to policing in our community,” Yorkton Mayor Bob Maloney said. “The funding of three officers in the City of Yorkton is critical in providing services to the community and region.”
The Ministry of Corrections and Policing provides funds to urban police services across Saskatchewan to support 128 municipal police positions and policing initiatives.
