Strong Building Permit Growth in 2017
Saskatchewan’s value of building permits from January to May 2017 was $805.3 million, up by 20.8 per cent over the same period last year.
Nationally, building permits were up 9.7 per cent.
Compared to May 2016, industrial building permits increased by 104.8 per cent to $17.6 million.
“Strong building permit growth is considered to be a leading indicator of future economic growth,” Economy Minister Jeremy Harrison said. “What is important to point out about the May numbers is the rise in industrial permits, showing the private sector’s continued confidence to invest and create jobs in Saskatchewan.”
The total amount of permits in May 2017 was $220 million.
