Second Intake of Applications for Veteran Service Club Support Program Underway
The Saskatchewan Veteran Service Club Support Program continues to strengthen the long-term sustainability of Saskatchewan's service clubs, providing support for veterans, their families and communities in our province.
The second intake of applications are now being accepted until August 31, 2021. The first intake of the Veteran Service Support Program supported 39 veteran service clubs around Saskatchewan with over $634,000 in support already delivered.
"The first intake of applications for the Veteran Support Service Program grant was an overall success," Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said. "We encourage more veteran branches across Saskatchewan to apply for this grant regardless of if they've received any COVID-19 relief funding so that we can continue to support the veterans in our province."
This program is delivered in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Legion, Saskatchewan Command and the Army, Navy, and Air Force Veterans (ANAVETS) Saskatchewan Provincial Command. Registered, non-profit veteran service clubs based in Saskatchewan are eligible to apply for grants up to $25,000.
"The Saskatchewan Command would like to thank the Government of Saskatchewan for this grant," The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command Provincial President Keith Andrews said. "I would encourage any branch that has not applied yet, to apply for this service grant and use the money for upgrades to their facilities or other operational needs."
"I would like to congratulate all those that received the first round of the support program," ANAVETS Saskatchewan Command Provincial President Rick Taylor said. "I would also encourage all branches to submit a project regardless of application results in previous years. There will be more projects approved due to the larger funding commitment made by the Government of Saskatchewan this year."
This program provides grants towards facility projects, upgrades, renovations or repairs, access to programming, meetings and events. Grant money can also be used toward special events, programs and activities that engage the public and advance the work of veteran service organizations.
