Recognizing Saskatchewan's Top Cadets
Saskatchewan’s top Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Corps and Air Cadet Squadron are being showcased in a series of events over the next several weeks.
Saskatchewan’s Provincial Military Liaison Greg Lawrence, will present the Saskatchewan Premier’s Commendation of Achievement certificates and pins to the Cadets at ceremonies in Saskatoon and Regina. The top units are selected by Zone Training Officers through the use of a scoring matrix.
“The Cadet program is a wonderful opportunity for youth in Saskatchewan,” Lawrence said. “Through Cadets, young people in Saskatchewan take part in a variety of environmental, citizenship and community activities, learning life and work skills that will serve them well into the future.”
This is the ninth year the award ceremonies have taken place.
The top Cadet units for 2018 are:
- Top Army Cadet Corps – 155 Royal Regina Rifles, Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, Regina
- Top Sea Cadet Corps – 45 Jervis Bay, Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps, Saskatoon
- Top Air Cadet Squadron – 41 Hercules, Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, Regina.
The Cadet program is a national program for young people aged 12 to 18. The program offers a variety of activities for youth focusing on leadership, citizenship and fitness, while learning about the sea, army and air elements of the Canadian Armed Forces.
There are more than 1,500 youth enrolled in Saskatchewan’s sea, army and air Corps and Squadrons. More information about the Cadet program is available at www.cadets.ca.
