Public Accounts Show Lower Travel, Communications Spending in 2019-20
The Government of Saskatchewan reduced travel and communications spending in 2019-20, carefully managing expenses while investing into priorities for Saskatchewan people.
Volume 2 of Public Accounts containing detailed financial information was released today.
Ministers’ travel costs were $387,000 in 2019-20 down $69,000, or 15 per cent, from the previous year and down 60 per cent from 2006-07. Overall travel expense was $36.3 million in 2019-20, a decrease of $1.8 million, or 4.8 per cent, from the previous year and down $5.3 million, or 13 per cent, from 2006-07.
Communications expense was $7.1 million in 2019-20, a reduction of $158,000, or 2.2 per cent compared to 2018-19, and down $8.7 million, or about 55 per cent, from 2006-07.
In total, government travel and communications expense was down $14 million in 2019-20, compared to 2006-07.
