Provincial Court Judge Appointed in La Ronge
The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to announce the appointment of Erin Layton as a judge to the Provincial Court in La Ronge.
“Judge Layton is an exceptional appointment to the bench,” Justice Minister and Attorney General Don Morgan said. “She has made valuable contributions to the legal community in La Ronge and northern Saskatchewan for nearly 20 years. Her knowledge, experience and commitment to public service will enhance the judicial system in our province.”
Judge Layton received a law degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2000. She began her career as a lawyer with Eisner Mahon Burningham in Melfort. She went on to work as a lawyer with the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission in Prince Albert and La Ronge.
Judge Layton grew up in Missinipe and graduated from Churchill High School in La Ronge. She has served as a mentor for many lawyers in Prince Albert and La Ronge.
Judge Layton is replacing Judge McAuley who is transferring to the Provincial Court in Prince Albert. Judge McAuley will be assuming duties on the Cree Court circuit.
