Record Municipal Revenue Sharing for Saskatchewan Communities

The Government of Saskatchewan today announced that municipal revenue sharing is estimated to be more than $271 million in 2016-17.  That represents an increase of 113 per cent from 2007-2008, a record amount for municipalities.

FCAA Issues Allegations Against SHEC Energy Corporation

The Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan (FCAA) has issued a statement of allegations as a result of an investigation into the activities of Saskatchewan-based SHEC Energy Corporation, its founder, James “Tom” Beck, and a former employee, Terrence Stott.

Today, Education Minister Don Morgan proclaimed February 24 as Red Cross Pink Day.  Pink Day is observed across the province to raise awareness of bullying and the importance of preventing it.  This year’s theme is Let’s change the culture around bullying together!

Government Improves Wildfire Response and Emergency Planning in Saskatchewan

The Government of Saskatchewan is taking immediate steps to improve fire safety and emergency management in the province.  This includes investing in longer-term protection measures for northern people following an engagement process with communities, First Nations, local leaders, industry and residents affected by the province’s historic 2015 wildfire season.

Yorkton Rental Housing Project Complete with Assistance from Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan

The Government of Canada and the Province of Saskatchewan, along with the City of Yorkton and Yorkton Housing Corporation (YHC), today announced the completion of 11 new affordable rental units for individuals with complex needs in Yorkton.  Eleven individuals will enjoy a safe, quality home that is affordable and near support services. The project, undertaken by YHC, was made possible by a joint investment from the Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan.

Final Designs of Joint-Use Schools Unveiled

Today Education Minister Don Morgan joined school division officials from Saskatoon Public Schools, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, Prairie Spirit School Division, Regina Public Schools and Regina Catholic School Division, along with students, parents and community members to unveil the designs for the 18 publicly-owned elementary schools being built on nine joint-use sites in Regina, Saskatoon, Martensville and Warman.

CT Services Now Available in Southeast Saskatchewan

People living in southeastern Saskatchewan now have access to specialized diagnostic imaging services closer to home. A state-of-the-art computed tomography (CT) scanner has started operating at St. Joseph’s Hospital of Estevan.  Today, Health Minister Dustin Duncan today joined the mayor of Estevan, representatives from Sun Country Health Region, St. Joseph’s Hospital of Estevan, the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, and local residents for the official unveiling of the region’s new CT scanner.
