Meet the Artists at Government House
Government House welcomes the public to a free “Meet the Artists” event at the QEII Art Gallery on Sunday, November 18 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The QEII Art Gallery is located along the Queen Elizabeth II Wing – Upper Hall at Government House, 4607 Dewdney Avenue, Regina.
The current exhibition in the gallery showcases the work of the Regina Photo Club, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2018. Works by 26 different photographers are on display, and several of the artists will be on hand to discuss their work. There will be coffee, tea and dainties available.
“The QEII Gallery at Government House is always a treasure trove of Saskatchewan artwork and this exhibition by the Regina Photo Club is no different,” Minister Responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission Ken Cheveldayoff said. “The photographs are beautiful, and the opportunity to speak with the artists about their work is not to be missed. I invite the public to attend this wonderful event.”
The QEII Art Gallery is one of the lesser known gems of Government House. This gallery provides opportunities for provincial artists to display their works. The exhibit changes regularly, and has showcased all manner of Saskatchewan art, including quilting, sculpture, and photography.
Visitors coming for the “Meet the Artists” event will also be among the first to see Government House dressed in its Christmas splendor this year. The Christmas décor at Government House is always spectacular and 2018 promises to be the same. Government House will be closed for decorating from November 12 to 16, reopening to the public on November 17 at 9 a.m.
There are many exciting events and activities coming up at Government House, including the annual Old-fashioned Victorian Christmas celebration on December 14 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Visit https://governmenthousesk.ca/ to learn more.
