Highest Retail Sales Growth in Canada
On a monthly basis, Saskatchewan’s retail sales rose by 0.6 per cent per cent in February when compared with January, the highest percentage increase among the provinces (seasonally adjusted). Nationally, there was a 0.6 per cent decrease.
Year-over-year, retail sales were up 4.8 per cent, slightly above the 4.7 per cent posted nationally and the fourth highest among the provinces.
“Saskatchewan consumers have been opening their wallets because they have confidence in our economy,” Economy Minister Jeremy Harrison said. “Our economy continues to show strength and resilience. Recent nation leading economic statistics in retail sales, wholesale trade and manufacturing are demonstrating this fact.”
