Building Permit Growth Leads Canada
Year-over-year building permits jumped 13.2 per cent (seasonally adjusted) in March 2017, the highest percentage increase among the provinces, and well ahead of the 1.5 per cent posted nationally.
Residential permits were up 26.8 per cent over this period.
“Building permits are one of the best indicators for a growing economy,” Economy Minister Jeremy Harrison said. “Saskatchewan leading the provinces in percentage growth shows that our economy remains strong and resilient.”
Building permits totalled $151.2 million in March 2017, up from $133.6 million in March 2016. Six provinces recorded declines on an annual basis.
