Rob Norris was raised in Red Deer, attended university in both Alberta and Saskatchewan and since 1994 he has called Saskatoon home.
Mr. Norris holds Master and Bachelor degrees in political science, with graduate research relating to Canadian foreign policy. During his university years, he worked as a teaching assistant within the Native Studies program at the University of Lethbridge, and he taught courses on Canadian government for the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology and the University of Saskatchewan.
Mr. Norris previously served as a Legislative Assistant within the Canadian House of Commons with his primary duties related to foreign policy. He has also worked with several community organizations, including as Chair of the Knowledge Industry Committee of the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce. Prior to the 2007 provincial election, he was the Coordinator of Global Relations for the University of Saskatchewan and Special Advisor on Innovation to the Saskatchewan Party.
In addition to his ministerial duties, Mr. Norris serves on Treasury Board, the Cabinet Policy and Planning Committee, and the Policy and Planning Economic Development Sub-Committee.
Mr. Norris is the MLA for the constituency of Saskatoon Greystone. He is married to Dr. Martha Smith-Norris, a history professor at the University of Saskatchewan. Their daughter, Jacqueline, is in grade five.
