In 1992, then NDP caucus employee Ann Lord wrote a letter to NDP caucus chair MLA Glenn Hagel and NDP Caucus Chief of Staff Jim Fodey detailing how she had defrauded the caucus office by inflating cheques payable to her.  The letter asks them to keep her activities confidential.  Minister Hagel maintains all information regarding this fraud was forwarded to the Regina City Police, however, many questions remain as to why this fraud of taxpayers' money was never made public.

On February 28, 2007, Lorne Calvert and his NDP government announced they were going to pay $275,000 to former Department of Environment Manager Murdoch Carriere - a senior government official who was fired for harassment and convicted of assault.  Nine female complainants had to split a government settlement of $135,000 -- each woman received $15,000. To date, the government refuses to answer questions about why Carriere received so much money.  Click here to learn more.

The Calvert NDP government's 2007-08 budget plunges Saskatchewan into a deficit situation to the tune of $701 million dollars. Spending is up nine percent, while revenues are only forecasted at 1.8 per cent.  Saskatchewan's debt is also increasing at a time of unprecedented prosperity.  Even the NDP's own finance minister, Andrew Thomson, has admitted that his budget is indeed a deficit budget. Click here to read more.
